Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between the 1-hour and 45-minute U7/U9 sessions?
Both sessions follow the same BL coaching philosophy and skating curriculum. The main difference is format and duration.
Our 1-hour session focuses on full-ice powerskating with high repetitions, agility, edgework, and flow-based skating drills in a larger group environment.
Our 45-minute session offers a shorter-format class with a smaller group setting, making it a great option for younger skaters, newer skaters, or families looking for a lighter summer schedule.
What’s the difference between pre-registration and regular registration?
Pre-registration is an early-access registration for a specific age group. We may not offer these all the time but make sure to register if we are – since you’ll be notified first when registration opens!
What will skaters work on during the program?
Depending on age group and session format, skaters will work on:
> Edge control
>Agility & mobility
>Explosive starts
>Stride efficiency
>Crossovers & transitions
>Stops & directional changes
>Skating with pucks during select drills
>Confidence & overall skating habits
Are the classes high intensity?
Our sessions are designed to challenge skaters while still creating a positive and encouraging learning environment. Drills are adjusted by age group and ability level to keep players engaged, moving, and developing confidence on the ice.
How many skaters do you have per session?
We aim to maintain a 1:6 coach-to-skater ratio, allowing coaches to give frequent feedback, corrections, and individualized attention. Sessions emphasize repetition of proper skating mechanics, helping players build strong habits, confidence, and long term development on the ice.
How do you handle a large range of age groups at once?
We’re very used to working with groups of varying ages. Our on-ice approach is more ability-based rather than age-based, meaning that we teach skills according to each group’s skill level rather than their age. This ensures that all participants receive appropriate coaching for their development.

Will there be puck work during sessions?
